Recruiting - 25 approx, appraisals, objectives, motivation etc.
Activities managed- H/W design, Firmware development, ASIC development, packaging, PCB design and Mechanical design.
Technical Management - Marketing collateral, specs, sign off, checking, DVT writing, technical reports to customers. Design reviews, manufacturing subcontractor liaison, internal liaison.
Customer Interface - tech input at presales meetings, progress/review meetings (on and off site), writing tech reports to customers, customer training (at their site), writing and presenting technical papers (ESA, NATO, symposiums). Presentations to senior management. On site trouble shooting. Outsourcing - trade off and accomplishment of outsourcing SMT and unit manufacture and test.
Subcontractor management - selection and liaison for mechanical design, FPGA design, PCB layout, assembly of test equipment.
Migration of designs - in two cases, responsible for transferring a set of designs from one site to another, on one, from the USA.
Procurement - hardware, components, ASICs, S/W tools, assembly & test services, Metalwork, PCBs etc.

Project Examples:
Matra Marconi - 10 ESA workpackages for a Narrowband Digital Payload Processor technology demonstrator including ASIC, MCM, electronics and mechanics design.
Baltimore - Development of a desktop IP crypto including electronics, mechanics, user interface, software, algorithms in FPGA firmware, plastic moldings, accreditation, transfer to production and providing support. BCN - rapid development of externally mounted radio data collection and forwarding unit involving electronics, mechanics and assembly by teams in Jabil in Italy and software porting and development in CA USA.
